40 or 50 years ago exports to the UK from New Zealand were the bulk of the exports from NZ. Now the UK is a minor customer. The EU put up a lot of barriers to NZ so NZ looked elsewhere to sell meat and produce. The advantage of dealing with NZ and Australia is that they are used to dealing with the bureaucracy of import/export and will have the procedures in place. Tim Tams are quite nice. We can get them here in NZ (from OZ)

@epincion The UK still has a greater emphasis on manufactured goods than NZ and so NZ has things the UK produces. Where the head office is is irrelevant. FIAT/Chrysler has head office in London but factories in Italy/ USA and elsewhere. ps I simply mentioned they tasted nice and implied no more than that. No doubt they are made elsewhere under license. It shows the Brexiteers are trying to turn the clock back to the British empire days and that is an unrealistic fantasy. Th NZ exporters can still trade with EU as it always has but now has the advantage over the UK which is in a weak trading position. The transport distance is irrelevant as there are far more resources used in transporting the goods locally in the UK than is used getting them (per Kg) from NZ to the UK.
