A couple of points. The UK is a small part of NZ exports and has to meet strict animal welfare standards to export to the other markets (including the EU). Those standards are world leading. Shipping. The bulk shipping cost per kg by sea is small. The biggest cost is the local distribution loop. In any case the containers work both ways. Here is an opportunity for UK manufacturers to take advantage of the shipping to Australia and NZ

@trident6547 It may be pre-packaged and put in boxes but filling a container completely with a single product then filling a whole container ship with said containers justifies using the term shipping in bulk. I used the term to differentiate between bulk and discrete shipments. With the pandemic causing supply chain issues NZ meat exporters have even resorted to private hire of ships to ensure timely deliveries.
