@Jrodsly Amtrak hardly qualifies as a bullet train compared to those in Asia and Europe which are competitive with air. You can even take your car on to the one under the English channel.

@THE-X-Force The whole point of ads is for people to view them though

Why the obsession with voting for the head of the party. Many countries (like mine) you vote for the party and they vote for the leader. The US presidential system is just a wanabee King/Queen

We had a group of young people just out of university coming up with wacky ideas to save energy at our plant. Their proposal was put to management and approved. Fortunately I was able to kneecap it as it was absurd. I told them what to do and the new proposal was resubmitted and approved.

NASA has set up Musk to be the scapegoat when it all fails. They knew it was an impossible task from the start.

Perhaps it breaks because it accelerated fast?

While they have the resources to fund the corruption, incompetence and waste they will survive. When it runs out look at Nauru

@hypnotiz9 There is plenty of evidence he was elsewhere and doing things at the tome he claimed to be sleeping in factory. He didn't found Tesla He didn't come up with the idea of the Li ion batteries in a car. The Roadster was designed before he joined Tesla He has a Bachelor of Arts degree. I seem to recall some graffiti in a toilet at Engineering school on a toilet paper dispenser. "BAs Please tale one"

Musk fans are like religious zealots. They desperately want it to be be true and invest themselves into the dogma.

Show is called Spitting Image. They don't hold back on celebs

The words are "Engine Brake". In any case the way it works is the motors can become generators and take energy which is put back into the battery. In regular Brakes the energy is lost as heat.
1
@ Think about it. If an electric vehicles motor can accelerate it. It can decelerate it just as well. Any energy going back to the battery is energy not having to dissipated by the brakes. I built an e-bike with regen braking 10 years ago. It is still on its original pads as on the hills the region is enough to hold the speed. It is done with software. You set the speed. If the motor runs faster it acts as a generator. A matter of scale but the principle is the same. You don't need a separate transmission. Regular brakes generate a lot of heat and regular engine braking absorbs and dissipates heat too. Not arguing about viability of the semi is for long haul as that wasn't part of the original post and I agree. Not a fan of Tesla.

@Motocentrick Just like regular trucks then? Bear in mind I was responding to your original post. "The other thing they don't mention is that electric cars don't engine break.(sic) You would have to ride your trucks brakes all the way down mountain, and they would overheat and light on fire"

If you go to https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries you can see a column that gives that data. USA not at the top but pushing hard. Currently S Korea 208/ million USA 2395 / million. 10x the amount and climbing.

3 months on. Not so rosy looking......

@ehudv9276 It would be a shame for all that engineering expertise to go to waste. Hopefully it will get bought out by another auto manufacturer when the share price reaches a realistic value. It makes no sense when Toyota is valued a lot less yet makes more profit.
1
That's little unfair. People expect products to be properly developed by engineers. Not everyone is an Engineer.
