Comments by "Meh Pluribus Unum" (@pluribus_unum) on "Are war crimes being committed by Russia in Ukraine? - BBC News" video.
All war criminals must be held to account, and the horrors unleashed upon Asia during the cold war era lead the list. This being said, appropriate concern about civilian casualties in Ukraine arises because Russian civilian deaths in war zones after 1980 are many factors worse than that of any western power. Civilian deaths during Russian hostilities in Afghanistan (9 years): 850,000 to 2,000,000 Civilian deaths during US hostilities in Afghanistan (20 years): 40,000 to 100,000

@JJmetaphysics - You can dispute the accuracy of the data from the sources¹ ², but they aren't baseless numbers. ________________ ¹ Stanford University, Centre for the Study of Civil War (CSCW), International Peace Research Institute Oslo ² The Watson Institute for International Public Affairs at Brown University, Tufts University, and the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan

@WETiLAMBY - Do you have a citation for that, by chance?

@EvilDemon69 - Few criticized it, and it's a valid point. A number of progressive Democratic members of Congress in the US condemned it, but that's wholly insufficient. That said, it was a case of targeting being misplaced, not a case of the US committing indiscriminate killing of civilians, of which there are numerous examples across history. Two wrongs don't make a right. Two illegal invasions don't make a humanitarian intervention. Killing civilians should always be condemned, indiscriminate killing of civilians in particular must be condemned.

@drg8687 - Frankly, I'd greatly appreciate the prosecution of them, Obama and Biden, and Trump and Pence for continuing the targeted assassination program that is drone killings.
