  1. Putin has seen Belarus and Ukraine as his to reclaim as part of Russia, undoing two "mistakes" in his mind. If Belarus wants self-determination, or to contribute to exist as anything other than Russians in the future, they'll need to turn away from Putin and toward the EU.
