  1. He's just saying the quiet part that the Republican electorate wants outloud. Pew polling in September 2022 showed 75% of Republicans want to see the U.S. turned into a Christian nationalist state, despite knowing that it would be unconstitutional. That Christian nationalism is clearly a white male led autocracy, if you merely listen to what these people say in media, and at rallies and events where the base is the vast majority of the audience.
