  1. Pedestrian deaths in the U.S. are at a 40-year high. One of the major factors contributing to the death toll is the large SUVs and trucks with huge blind spots in front of the vehicles.

  3.  @smoggy1964  - This incident, it sure seems that way unless a health problem contributed. The blind spots are shown by research to be a definite factor increasing pedestrian deaths. The worst cases are parents running over their own children playing near their parked vehicles.

  6.  @SamDoyle-gc8ci  - I'm adding a comment about SUVs and trucks so consumers are informed. This is a large vehicle that obscured the driver's view of the children being hit -- but no, that isn't the reason this occurred.
