Comments by "Meh Pluribus Unum" (@pluribus_unum) on "Beto O'Rourke interrupts Gov. Abbott's news conference" video.
Beto is right in line with the author of the majority opinion, Republican Chief Justice Scalia, who fully expected that the laws the majority of Americans want and which Democrats have passed, would be law by now. Only Republicans today oppose the majority of the people in this country, and even the Republicans of the last decade, including the author of the opinion they mischaracterize to justify their homicidal obstruction and negligence. "In particular, Justice Scalia strongly suggested that his reading of the Second Amendment would still allow laws prohibiting felons from owning guns, prohibiting the carrying of firearms near schools and government buildings, and “laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms.”" "Even more importantly, Justice Scalia limited the Second Amendment right to the kinds of weapons “in common use at the time” of the amendment’s passage. Total bans on assault-style weapons are completely constitutional (though the law expired in 2004)."
