We have almost 100 progressives in Congress that work with all Democrats to move the nation forward. We should be proud of the long tradition of progressives in the Democratic party without forgetting we are strong because we are 15-20% of the big coalition of the left that is the Democratic party. David Sirota isn't credible to me because he was working for Bernie Sanders while still working for NPR. That kind of ethical lapse is disqualifying for me.

@brucejackson3844 - Then we should be even more aware that the 15%-20% of the party we represent needs the larger coalition of the left in order to get legislation passed and thus build up our faction and expand our influence. The fact that we won both Senate elections in Georgia is due to the fact that we have a broad coalition. Warnock won a[s] a solid progressive liberal, Ossoff won as a mainstream liberal with a modern anti-racist and pro-LGBTQIA+ progressive liberal streak. In fact, Ossoff and Fetterman share a similar "dual personality" regarding being progressive on social issues and more centrist on economic issues.

@arkinyte13 - Nancy Pelosi routinely and happily works with the 95 member Congressional Progressive Caucus, but -isn't a progressive and has never called herself one- ¹. 48 of the 9[5] members of the caucus are currently Black or POC and it was established in 1991 by Reps Ron Dellums (D-CA), Lane Evans (D-IL), Thomas Andrews (D-ME), Peter DeFazio (D-OR), Maxine Waters (D-CA) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT). I should've known that and stand corrected. She doesn't call herself a progressive these days.

@arkinyte13 - I understand you have your own metric for what is a progressive liberal, that's fine. My point is, we should not lose sight of the history of progressive politics in the Democratic party as well as outside of it, and continue to leverage assets we have on hand today, and not trade-off what I see as the massive advantages of "additive" versus "reductive" political strategies. In that spirit, I shared the fact about the number of members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, in other words, elected Democrats and one Independent who identify as progressives, and the polling data from Pew and others that shows 15%-20% of Democratic voters call themselves liberal progressives (for added context, 25%-30% call themselves liberals, and 35%-40% call themselves moderates, 5%-10% call themselves conservatives, and 2%-5% call themselves very conservative).
