The cost of the progressive left's fight against Cold-War propaganda engendering a pro-Russia stance because often it was the only way to wedge open the door to any kind of reasonable debate at all. We killed the Cold War hawks but created a blindspot to Russian autocracy. This apologia of the American left for Soviet and then Russian kakistocracy has long been an issue for progressives and liberals. It reignited with greater resonance after the ghastly spectacle that was the western capitalist hyenas picking of the Soviet Union's fresh cadaver clean. Ironically, Putin and Russian oligarchs are nothing without their Wall Street access -- despite the Occupy Movement infiltrators' disinformation lies to the contrary.
