Coup d'etat is what it should've been called from January 6th, 2021 onward. Republican extremism obliterated the integrity of their party that day, and the entirety of the Republican leadership has been accomplices after the fact in the coverup by refusing to impeach Trump for it, destroying and withholding evidence, propping up the lies about election fraud, and in their passing of autocratic state laws making a coup more likely to succeed the next time they try one because state legislators and secretaries of state can simply ignore the results of any election, or just the vote from certain districts.
