Honestly, if Elon is upset, it's a good sign it's likely to be a truly effective tax on billionaires.

@p1randymarsh618 - You being unfamiliar with his how Musk avoids paying his fair share isn't my problem to remedy. You started out with a "tree hugging" argument and now want to ignore that fact in some odd effort to carry water for tax cheats and billionaires. The fact is, if it upsets Elon, and apparently you, it's likely an effective proposal.

Delaware was an early one, but they're even worse in hardcore Republican states like South Dakota now too.

I know the truth about Elon's environmental footprint from Fremont, to Boca Chica to the stratosphere, and consequently don't believe his hype. @p1randymarsh618 - You seem interested in moving on to the right's "debt and deficit amnesia" problems, how Democratic governance leads to reduced deficits, the only surplus in modern history, the fastest job growth and recovery in any President's first term in history, including the biggest drop in unemployment in a first term in history (6.2% to 3.9%), reduced income inequality and a four decades overdue pivot back to investment in US industry and labor after the decimating Reagan era, while Republican governance leads to far greater income inequality and massive deficit increases, three recessions, the first Presidential administration to see job losses instead of gains since Hoover and the Great Depression and the longest, least successful and most expensive US wars of choice in history.

@p1randymarsh618 - The standard of living, life expectancy, education and health outcomes -- as well as the taxpayer return on investment in "blue" states vs. " red states" all show that your argument is deflection at best, and projection at worst. And before you start talking crime, the rise in crime rates is afflicting all states, and if anything, it's worse in "red" states "In 2020, per capita murder rates were 40% higher in states won by Donald Trump than those won by Joe Biden." @p1randymarsh618 - The statistics show that higher tax revenues from many sources, when combined with transparency laws, oversight and audits, produces better standards of living. Republican tax policy is generally in denial of this reality and still uses the disproven "trickle-down" theory The tax policies dominating Republican politics for five decades have produced a major decline across many metrics both in "red" states domestically, and consequentially the US internationally. A 50-year comprehensive study on tax cuts like Reagan's and Trump's showed they make the rich richer, increase income inequality, and do nothing for economic growth, while contributing to declining investment in research, education, infrastructure, health care, and as a result of that decline in national investment, they result in a decline in global competitiveness.
