@kirkpatrick7475 His job was to look after Britain Armed Forced so they were ready for any eventuality; he presided of=ver thenm being run down. The low growth in the UK has meant that the defence budget has been cut to pay for inexorable increases of social spending without increasing taxes. Britain has pitiful Armed Forces, and the stocks of weapons being given to Ukraine will never be replaced.

@AthelstanEngland Partly because Wallace made no objection the UK defence budget is has been raided so much that it is close to rock bottom. You cannot give open ended in those circustances.

The Ukraine's 'ingratitude' and ' I'm not Amazon' gaffe did for him. Low profile career that gave him no chance of building up tolerance for criticism. It was not just under his tenure that the Defence budget was raided for social spending without raising taxes, but he certainly did not rock the boat and the UK military is now no longer taken seriously by the US
