  3. There is a war because there are things at issue. The 30 day ceasefire is a time out that suits one side (like time to recover given to a boxer after a low blow), which can resume fighting in a month. Complete non--starter. There has to be a commitment to negotiations for a settlement. When both sides agree can there be a peace deal. Otherwise the war would just start up again at greater intensity.

  5.  @lg2058  No country in Europe wants to have a border with Russia without being in Nato. But it's always a trade off and Ukraine did not take the down side of sidling up to nato into account.

  6.  @AlexanBudni  Ukraine is too important to Russians. They could not be deterred and Ukraine should not even have tried by getting close to NATO. Kyiv bought about what it wat trying to prevent by its half baked alliances.
