Oh? if you are right then America will not back down. If the US do back down over the ATACMS strikes into Russia, America will massively increase arms to Ukraine because the US cannot be made to look silly. So worse is better for Ukraine. If actual direct hostilities between Russia and the West occur that is good news for Ukraine. Zelensky wants it.

@talkingonthespectrum ATACMS have multiple systems for navigation, some can be jammed. Ditto Storm Shadow. The Americans have the cartography images that the unjamable terrain following relies on. A different set pf pictures has to be loaded for each target location And of course the target selected is often located because of US surveillance and intel. So the weapons Putin is saying Americans (and Brits to an extent) are supplying are not able to be used independent of continuing access to select the US library of terrain images, and the targeting is also quite a bit American. Yes the Ukrainians fire the things and know where their going but they need important help each time.

@talkingonthespectrum Well you seem to know about what Ukraine might be able to do, but nothing you are saying contradicts the point that Putin made about these 2 strikes having been done with essential US assistance, and that follow are going to be seen by the Kremlin as further direct involvement on the strikes into Russia by the US, not just supply of the missiles . Putin has said this in a TV address to the nation, adding any further ATACMS strikes into Russia will ne met with retaliation in kin, on US bases in Europe. Him walking such an explicit statement back is barely possible; I think it is more likely he will do what he says.

@talkingonthespectrum That is what Biden seems to have thought, but I very much doubt that that Biden expected Putin to go on Russia' TV virtually saying' if we get more of these ATACMS hitting a target in our country we will hit a US base'.. And by the way the US evacuated their embassy so the intel Washington is receiving alarms them.
