  1. China was built up as a counterweight to the USSR. With the fall of the Soviet Union, the attenuated Russian power then became the unspoken counterweight to a burgeoning China. However with its Ukraine policy, Washington has brilliantly wedged Russia away from considering China as a danger, and, through huge losses in the SMO, handed the Chinese a geostrategic coup by alienating Russia forever after from fighting on the side of America. Putin falling will not alter the new alignment.
