Not in Russia it isn't. Historically, democracy is not so much unknown as uncomprehended in Russia. As for whether the majority supports Putin, you are a naval expert. Zelensky has become more popular as a war leader; both boats rise in that tide. Putin felt secure enough to hold an election during a war.

The age of mothers at the birth of their first child has gone down in Russia even as it went up in the West ; Russia is a strange place. Anders's vid about naval drones was very informative (he ought to do more stuff like that) , but he is not a specialist in how ordinary Russians think. A Foreign Policy article: 'Ukraine Isn’t Putin’s War—It’s Russia’s War Jade McGlynn’s books paint an unsettling picture of ordinary Russians’ support for the invasion and occupation of Ukraine.' @dpelpal

I will not deny that Anders knows his stuff about sea drones. There is an academic called Jade McGlynn who likes Ukraine but hasmade a very deep study of Russians' political views, and she says that opposition to Putin is no stronger that extreme pro Putinist sentiment. The strategy of the Putin regime is to make the average Russian disinterested in politics, and conventionally patriotic by default. Yes many, many people in Russia live in villages lacking indoor plumbing, but that just shows how untypical of Russia the Moscow and St Petersburg elites who disdain Putin and want to do business Western style are. @SianaGearz
