  1. America is not trying to defeat Russia, even in Ukraine. It's trying to discourage Russia. When it comes down to it no one, not even the US, is going to fight Russia to save Ukraine. And Russia can always reduce its use of any arms it is "running out of" and keep fighting. So the whole thing comes down to whether Russia wants it enough or would be willing to quit Ukraine entirely, apologize, and pay reparations. So far there is absolutely no evidence discouraging Russia is something that is an attainable objective, because they are raising their game and they have allies; North Korea is a Chinese sockpuppet . so it can be seen who is Russia's backstop.
