Some things are very difficult to explain. Dr Jayaram says he walked in on Letby trying to kill a baby, he didn't just go to the police about it but he did tell the unit managers. He and four other doctors only went to the police much later after they y were criticised for giving very substandard care to the babies in the unit in a report commissioned after a unusual splike in the number of deaths at the unit. Letby could not have been responsible for half of those deaths, and any nurse who worked as many hours as she did would have been present for the same number of deaths.
