  5. I don't think Russia would respond with nuclear weapons against a nuclear armed power. Ukraine does not have nuclear weapons. Russia can use nuclear weapons against Ukraine. Whether it will depends on the Kremlin assessment of how the war is going for them.

  6.  @luzr6613  Nuclear forces understand how to minimize fallout, but I agree It would be very difficult for Russia in the court of world opinion, were they to go nuclear against Ukraine. Nonetheless, in my opinion Russia would feel they would have no other option but to use nuclear weapons if they came to believe the tide had turned against them they are definitely losing. The geopolitical fallout from actual defeat at the hands of Ukraine would be too unbearable for the Kremlin.
