  2.  @romanregman1469  Mate, we could be here all day. I'll try and do a short version. Most artificial lighting does not supply adequate Vitamin D, which affects serotonin levels. In some cases, it can also be bad for people, because a light source will be oscillating at a high frequency triggering migraines, epilepsy and so on. There are also psychological aspects which are too complex to go into, other than name dropping claustrophobia. We are not really subterranean creatures. We can spend time in caves and shelters, but it is bad for us to spend long periods within them, and the effect is cumulative.

  5. Waste rocks from mining are an obvious answer. I also think the likes of PNG and its neighbouring countries would benefit from selling rock than PR China which dominates the east Asian economy. PNG needs the money more.

  6. Taiwan has a lot more land area and needs it less. Ironically a lot of it is probably being diverted to Hong Kong.

  11. Papua New Guinea has mining, and probably needs the money more than Australia.

  12. @Harry Groundwater The mines are already there in PNG. Might as well give a poor country money before the PRC does with strings attached. Australian mines are often on Aboriginal sacred sites so it isn't cut and dried.
