And yet ironically, the programme of that tendency continues through universities and media in the west, while edifices such as the USSR and its monstrous defence system have collapsed.

Much cheaper, albeit slower, to employ soft power, and influence through educational institutions, media etc.

@manofsan He's done something about Soviet computers as well as about the Sri Lankan collapse, Japanese corruption and Singaporean success...

Most of the USSR was in Asia... so...

@ngolong4070 How so? The US government has admitted itself that it has conducted such experiments in the past along with chemical and nuclear weapons.

@whysoserious7553 Not "whatever", ever heard of the World Economic Forum? They helped create the mess we are in now. Look up their website.
2
@CRneu There was a major and involuntary rollback of their biological programme after the USSR collapsed. A lot of their labs ended up in other countries.

The records are buried. Deep.

Ironically programmes such as these failed against the west, whereas the "long march through the institutions" which cost a fraction of the price continues to succeed.

What does "prowestly" mean?

KGB.

A lot harder to investigate. "Tight lipped" doesn't even begin to cover it.

@whysoserious7553 Wasn't that an international effort?

@whysoserious7553 There is ample evidence of other countries being involved. There is that curious tabletop exercise that Johns Hopkins University undertook in October 2019, along with the World Economic Forum and others... it proposed all the moves that were undertaken six months later in many countries.

This was a clever post until you started mentioning names. KH and the rhetoric she uses is a good example, but otherwise you are talking about machine types. Also as usual, you Americans think you are the only people in the room. What's been done to western Europe, Canada, Australia and NZ is just as relevant.

@winstonsmith478 China's already gone bad. The danger is more to Japan and South Korea.

"The ends justify the means". In the end up, corrupting the west's educational institutions has proven a much more successful tactic.

@viewer-of-content The only time it might be justified is against an invasive species such as rabbits in Australia.

@ngolong4070 I'm not talking about recent times, mate. One of the things that can be said in favour of the USA is that it declassifies many things after a few decades. You can find your info in such documents. Much more so than some shallow trawl around the "interwebs" with Google. Using the "conspiracy" tag doesn't work anymore... thanks to declassified info we now know that this kind of thing did go on, that the Solidarity movement in Poland etc were funded by the west, and even that there have been serious attempts to investigate the UFO phenomena. The last one may sound wild but it's all there in official docs (including military footage released to mass media.)

@ngolong4070 The whole point of such programmes is that they are wholly or partly covert. The US military budget is vast, more than all the others combined. Some of that will be directed to cutting edge R & D for aircraft and weaponry, or maintaining expensive early warning systems, satellites etc. Part of it will be defending against whatever WMD is out there... and as part of that they will have to have certain pathogens under lock and key to develop effective defences against them. That's without even developing new ones. Anthrax and bubonic plague are likely ones. Probably a number of others we've never heard of.

The USSR claimed to be as well and some people still buy into the shtic.
