There are two well known abduction stories within twenty miles of where I live. Also stories of bigfoot like creatures are well known from Nepal, Russia, Malaysia and even South America, and New Zealand. It's not just an American phenomenon at all.

You could also mention how aerosols and fridges ended up destroyed much of the ozone layer (although I have a sneaking suspicion all these nuclear tests will turn out to have been a factor one day)... Or how a medicine created to cure morning sickness produced babies with stunted limbs. Or how a pesticide for bugs ended up decimating the bird population by thinning the shells of their eggs. Or how agrichemicals and plastics are affecting human fertility and may play roles in breast/prostate and testicular cancer. And so on and so on. We are screwing things up, because we didn't look at the little possibilities. If there was a 1% chance it could set the atmosphere on fire, that is actually a high risk. Without looking, I can't imagine (m)any have done a video on the Turriff Cow (Turra Coo) which became a cause celebre in its time. A Scottish farmer went bankrupt, and it cost more to recover the cow than it was worth. It launched a souvenir industry - plates etc, had songs written about it and there were cartoons in national newspapers. It is on Wikipedia, but there are hundreds of things you can get off there. Probably more interesting than the cow!

My guess would be some of the African lakes, but it depends whether you consider smaller vessels a navy. Bolivia used to have a coastline and lost it, so they probably need a fleet on the lake to compensate.

I never gave permission and I had submitted it to a paying magazine previously. Unfortunately, there are a number of these things. The public probably don't know about most of them but there are certainly some nuclear reactors and bombs which have been lying under the sea, and also nuclear waste that has seeped into groundwater etc.

The main archetype described becomes likelier by the day - i.e. the ruler of a global government, who rules by fear and deception, and wants absolute control over how people can buy or sell. Over the past year we have seen almost all the world under the same or similar rules, and power is being consolidated upwards by non-democratic means. So in that sense, it is a warning from history, which you can remove the religious aspects from. There have been numerous such tyrants in the past, but only now are we getting to the point where the world can be ruled by the one person. Global government and co-operation is being actively and openly pushed, but if occurs there will be no outside force to restrict his power like Hitler, Mao or Stalin. p.s. I realise the comment about the Tories was a joke. That's why i said it won't be anyone obviously evil. ;)

Some of them must have seen or heard it in the distance with bewilderment. As I understand it, at least some of these people were from Taiwan (no idea what percentage), and were indigenous to the island. (Taiwan was settled by the Chinese and conquered by Japan, but still retains some indigenous people.) The Japanese names disguise that fact. If they came from primitive communities in Taiwan it might explain how they could survive in other island jungles. Some of them were true Japanese but not all.

In actual fact, a number of non-conformist ideas have ended up mainstream in the west, like vegetarianism, feminism, freedom of religion, cannabis legalisation or environmentalism; or have substantial support in the public like pacifism, self-suffiency, decriminalisation of drugs etc.. Even in these times, it is easy to divide people into "sensible" and "anti-vaxxer", but it isn't that neat, because many people criticise the economic handling, but have had the shots; or have been vax'd before but reject the current shots; or have had the vax but respect the right of others to refuse; or support the vax but oppose digital tracking ID ("vaccine passports"). There are numerous positions.

They are already being used for everyday purposes in some countries, such as Israel - entry into libraries, universities, shops, restaurants... Maybe even public transport in the future. This mission creep has been happening in this country - you now need them to get into soccer games. It makes little logical sense. If the Vs are effective, then the unv'd are no threat to the v'd. However, the v'd can still transmit, which also undermines the premise. It also discriminates against those who cannot take Vs (and there are a number of very different reasons for that.) Once these tracking IDs are in, it is unlikely they will ever be removed, even though the entire project is incompatible with a free society. The conformist version answer is just "do what you're told and obey orders." We're told to accept v's like AZ/Oxford which have been restricted/prohibited in twenty other countries.

That isn't compatible with democracy, in fact even East Germany never had that level of public surveillance (not an exaggeration - my ex grew up there, so I heard all about it). Here is the point: once you introduce these, they are NEVER going away. Governments around the world will stoke up this or some other thing. Twenty years ago, they used "tear wrists" (as Dubya used to call them) to strip away freedoms, in the Cold War it was Communists. Same trend, different excuses. The European Union was discussing this type of ID ten years ago, now it has had the excuse to introduce it. Not only do these things track you, they can also deny you entry to certain locations. That is not a future we need or want. "Everybody is already being tracked by the government" The boiling a frog argument. Just because something is already happening, doesn't mean it is right. Besides which we aren't required to take our phones everywhere. That's currently optional.

Also the geographical references in it suggest it was written in modern day Jordan, not Mecca, which is barely mentioned in it. Muslim scholars can't discuss these issues with the Koran or they may face death for blasphemy. But forensic methods can and should be used on it like any other religious text.

I spot the more obvious things like horrible pronunciations of names etc, if you know the particular subject better then you can probably spot more of them. A friend of mine did European history at university, and told me he'd watched some of Whistler's videos and spotted tonnes more that I would probably miss. Things like dates, locations and other things. I prefer Thoughty2 - he can put a smile on my face, even if he is wrong. I know about the Poyais scam, partly because of my Scottish background, and also through helping someone with a novel about the period. It's a good story.

However, the man who does do very good original videos is Tom Scott. He puts a lot of effort and research into his videos, and as far as I can tell is very accurate. He also talks about many things I've never heard of, and which are not all over the internet. Simon Whistler... or at least his writers... do most of their "research" via Google search, and it shows. Then he reads it out. He's not even bottom tier though. There are some YouTubers who just read Wikipedia articles and regurgitate them. (That fashion even creeps onto television. I saw some "expert" quote something I'd put in a Wikipedia article almost verbatim on a documentary. It was a little known fact about some minor local history, and is only mentioned in one or two sources.)

This current situation has shown that up - not only do most supposed democracies have contempt for their populace, they also take orders from undemocratic global structures, from business leaders and bankers in low-key international conferences and are also planning to take away many liberties permanently. The western "democracies" stifle independent candidates, most new political parties, have large media organisations which manipulate the public and suppress inconvenient news stories. (Did you know there were big protests in London recently against the government there? No, I don't mean BLM or Kill the Bill. The BBC never reported them.) Our governments want us all to have smartphone with QR codes which we will need to access basic services. And it will get worse. Nothing democratic about it.

The Soviet Union (and probably China) was very bad when it came to developing nuclear weapons and power. There are large areas of Russia which have contaminated by their nuclear programme. Like the USA and UK, many of their nukes were tested in the desert, but they also contaminated streams, rivers and marshland with radiation. I agree with you about sewage and other contaminants. But at least nature can absorb sewage. Other chemicals and radiation are more difficult to deal with.

I suppose hypothetically, it could create a pool of hot or warm water, which a larger sheet of ice could slide over and start to melt. It happens with volcanic vents all the time. If it was stuck in a rocky crevasse it could theoretically heat the water going through it too.

The nearest analogy I can think of is Iceland where they have jókullhlaup (I think that's right), where a volcano melts the glacier above it, sending out a massive flood. Obviously, that would be a much bigger heat source, and would work more rapidly. I think Mount Saint Helens did something similar... But you are right, it is hard to think how this could happen. However, the device is a concern because it is supposedly lying near the top of the watershed for a major Indian river, which means there are serious contamination issues. p.s. Plant leaves, sand, lotions etc all have their problems. It's not like Hindu countries are renowned for their hygiene. Quite the opposite. India has a reputation for being one of the dirtiest places on Earth. By the way, people do use tissues to clean stuff off their faces and bodies. It is simply too time consuming to use them all over your body.

Anyone from there lecturing the world on hygiene lacks self-awareness. I'd take advice from Japanese or Singaporeans, but your lot, just no. It is a very dirty place, in general, and the heat doesn't help.

Tickling the lizard over videos about someone with their "step" sister/mother/daughter etc is going to take you into a very dark place... even if they try and deflect that with the "step" prefix.

A picture is always a picture and moral issues aside, a lot of that stuff is also very formulaic and horribly acted.

  497.  @valerieb4824  Prob. feeling pressure to put out frequent videos to keep the revenue coming in. Put it this way. When I sub'd a while back, a lot of his content was fresh and unusual. Or seemed to be. Now I only have to look at the video titles to know what he's talking about. The doggy suicide bridge has been covered at length in Fortean Times for example, and the British press. A lot of his other topics have appeared on several other YT channels.
