@DBZ483 Why would you need to say where London is? There is only one London of any consequence, all the other places need qualification like "London, Ontario", "East London, South Africs" etc. The big London doesn't need "England" tacked onto it. Only Yanks say things like "Rome, Italy", "Beijing, China", because they know F.A. about world geography and don't learn it in school.

@aquaticcactus9897 That's not the English language, it's just ignorance of geography. There is only one London of consequence. If one lives near one of the smaller Londons you might have an excuse, but that's different.

@aquaticcactus9897 You're displaying incredible parochialism. I was watching clips from Mission Impossible III recently, and they kept on with this nonsense, e.g. Berlin, Germany and Shanghai, China. Again, these were the only Berlins and Shanghais of any consequence. The only people who needed the country names tacked on for them are ignoramuses and small children. I'm sure there is a Shanghai, Illinois (pop. 50), or a Berlin, Queensland (pop. 12), but they are of no consequence. (Unfortunately, I have to spell this out for literalists, but I made up those last two examples.)

@AngrySecs No, I expect people to know that there is only one London/Paris/Tokyo/Moscow/Lima/Johannesburg/Toronto/Delhi of any consequence, and those ones need no qualifiers. You're dead wrong about my take on London. I can't stand the place. It's dirty, overpriced and noisy. I've spent of my life campaigning against it ruling my country (Scotland), so I'm not in with the British thing. I don't see it as the centre of the universe, even though everyone should have heard of the place... Two very different concepts.

@lilbunny9833 There is a Moscow in Scotland as well. Doesn't mean that every time we see the one in Russia the geographically challenged have to be told where it is. The Paris in Texas is irrelevant outside the USA. The big Paris has changed world history.
