Wojtek wasn't a grizzly AFAIK He did smoke and drink though, and get sent into a battlefield which would be dubious these days

Wojtek wasn't a grizzly.

It's both. Although you can debate where the line is. When the Iron Curtain went up it was definitely eastern.

@ThomasTrue Yes, there are more statues of animals in Edinburgh than women, apparently.

@leviroch Wild ones smell rank. They'll have bits of crap clinging to them, and the smells from carcasses etc they've been eating

@SEnergyable p.s. Is this one of these "trans" things? You know, like "we identify as western European but we're nowhere near the Atlantic Ocean/North Sea/western Mediterranean? Respect our pronouns?"

@bigman14193 Isn't Poland one of the 109 states gradually introducing a so called ναςςιηε "ραѕѕροгτ" for everyday life, including essential activities? Doesn't sound like saving Europe, but condemning it. All of the EU is doing it, as is the UK. The SNP in Scotland are backing it, like the Tories in England and Labour in Wales. Makes me wonder why we bother voting... So much for "freedom", when there is a global move for things which track your every movement and can control where you can and cannot go.

@SEnergyable No, it's Eastern historically (former Communist), linguistically (speaks a Slavic language) and geographically (east of Germany). Central Europe is Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Hungary... countries without a coast in the middle of the continent.

@chheinrich8486 It's a former Iron Curtain country. That's the divide between east and west in Europe.

@chheinrich8486 Hungary is just about central Europe, but coastal Poland certainly isn't.

@SEnergyable They're not in western Europe. Certainly not Slovakia which is well to the east of Europe. Guess what? Finland and Greece are eastern Europe too. Nothing wrong with it.
