Ben Hur, the Ten Commandments and Cleopatra are all films which have had some staying power. I saw them decades later on television and was still pretty wowed by them. This current crop? Maybe. The seventies did have some great films (but often awful aesthetics!), but they weren't heading unto AI territory as we are. Remember the seventies ended with Star Wars and Jaws which both led to flurries of formulaic space epics and creature features which didn't work well. The seventies were also the era of the disaster movie, sent up so brilliantly by Airplane.

@trainzactivist7245 Class is very much at the bottom of the pile for them. That is why aristocrats like Phoebe Waller-Bridge get through.

Because they're paid and signed up to push this stuff.

@frankgrimes7388 Compared to other recent films it's a classic .

They are both better projects than the usual fare, as is even the new Mission Impossible film, but I think Barbie does lead into some unfortunate tropes.

@acatselectsfreemusic Yes, and on TV, "the Chosen" is doing really well. While mainstream broadcasters often refuse to touch subject matter and stereotype churchgoers in negative ways.

@JohnMosesBrowningVEVO Better film than the Phantom Menace and made some sense at some levels, i.e. the deliberate flaw.

@henrykujawa4427 Have you seen the more recent version of Ben Hur?

@Anastasia-ii2yy Rogue One is good compared to the prequels too.

@lamesurfer1015 I can't stand "Dark Knight", I think it's thoroughly overrated so maybe not the best example. I can't be doing with most superhero films.
