@KaiserStormTracking Again, so we're told, but it doesn't get put to much use, thankfully. Shooting down nukes has other consequences I suppose. The Russians have extremely fast missiles these days, and God knows what the Chinese have or will do soon. Or they could just release a virus. 🤐

And the suicide rate going up by 4x. And homelessness. And lack of access to medical services. And economic discrimination and bankruptcy. And heart attacks and every other health problem which has arisen from this.
3
@KaiserStormTracking So we're told. Most of them don't get the same level of practical use.
3
@ko-iz3yp Suicide cannot be treated. It's final. Mental health is being destroyed because access to services was cut off. Alcoholism, heart attacks, strokes etc can all kill or do permanent damage. Domestic abuse is also through the roof.

@wc3101 I'm pointing out the irony of that scene in the film. Unfortunately, history shows people are often more inclined to do the opposite in the face of oppression. This whole thing has been emotional blackmail on a global scale, and the abuse of science.

@deepmind7784 Ok bot.
2
@michellekaiser5907 Real science is a multitude of opinions and data sets, not just the diktat from a single interest group.
2
It's not about preserving life, it's about making money and controlling people. I can still fly to other continents and the biggest supermarkets never shut, unlike the small shops. Bankruptcy and authoritarianism are coming.
2
This isn't even being reported on the BBC. Most people in the UK never heard about it. So who knows what is happening elsewhere.
2
Evidence of economic discrimination? Suicide? Heart attacks? Permanent psychological damage to toddlers? (Who rely on normal social interaction and watching facial expressions?)
2
@D Anemon Alcohol and football don't mix. I've had a lot of experiences with nasty drunken football fans. I'm actually teetotal myself. I think Qatar got a lot of things wrong, but they were right about alcohol in the stadiums.
2
@Poud2 Small businesses. Amazon's doing very well. They also offered to bail out the Big Four Supermarkets... Even though they've been raking it in. Meanwhile decades old family businesses are going bankrupt.
2
If rumours are to be believed, FIFA took a very large "part" to select Qatar
2
The media has barely reported on this. But Extinction Rebellion, BLM and the recent women's protests get wall to wall coverage.

I'm amazed there is anything left in Gaza.

Yeah... They wore masks. I remember. But this isn't Hollywood.
1
@mikeno8192 The exception. Not a peep out of the BBC. If it was in any of the papers it must be well buried.

There is at every protest.

A hundred countries. And not just for travel. Politicians are being VERY low key about it. Track and trace was an early version.
1
@thememaster7 They will allow the government to decide who does and doesn't get access to certain services which has very wide implications. They will be more expensive for small businesses. They will track your every move. Not even East Germany had something like this.
1
@deepmind7784 Ok bot.
1
@D Anemon One of the things they actually got right (for the wrong reasons)
1
@Poud2 Does a tin foil hat count when it covers your mouth? The economic discrimination is real. Unequal restrictions on businesses have killed one in seven British shops according to estimates. It's probably far higher too. Censorship is also easy to find online these days. Democracy and science do not consist of one opinion or interpretation.
1
They're dying because of lockdown, not in spite of it. Suicides, heart attacks etc are through the roof and other healthcare is hard to access.
1
@masterofnoobs1552 ?
1
@shakeilhosein9892 Actually it is. It is a microcosm of what is going on. Suicide is up by four times over the past year in some places.
1
Not curious at all. I live in Scotland and most of what went on up until our independence referendum was not reported at all. The BBC would lose 10% of its income if Scotland became independent, so it's in its financial interests to be biased against it.
1
@pollycracker2471 10% isn't a drop in the ocean. They're struggling to make money because 250,000 people cancelled their licences. 5 mil is twenty times that. Most of it goes on execs. Any royal coverage they have is also extremely biased.
