I’m curious... years ago I got a ticket for flashing my lights to warn of a speed trap to drivers in the opposite lanes as they approached it. My ticket was dismissed when the lawyer asked the officer what the purpose of his job was. Not writing tickets, but to enforce the law to encourage people to slow down. Then he asked what the effects of someone flashing lights to warn drivers of his presence was? “They slowed down,” the officer responded. “Then you wrote a ticket for interfering with a police officer in their line of duty, when in face he wasn’t interfering, he was helping. Case dismissed. The purpose of red light cameras isn’t to get revenue, it’s to get people to slow down. Same principle.
