  3. Pamela E — There is, which is where I got the articles from. Obama pardoned almost 1,800 not 1,385 people as stated. Please try and keep up. You however would prefer to make trolling and rude statements instead of clicking on the links I posted that stated the facts. You’re a bit lazy IMHO.

Another interesting thing is the common misconception that the civil war was about slavery, when it was really about states rights to govern independently without federal control. While it’s wonderful the civil war freed the slaves, that wasn’t Lincoln’s interest or intent. It was never on the agenda or in his mind until the south started forcing slaves to fight. Lincoln freed the slaves, the emancipation proclamation, to get black union soldiers to defect to the north towards freedom, i.e. it was a tactic to help win the war.

  7. Phil Scrivner — Mahid wasn’t talking about north or south, or any group switching from Democrat to Republican. He was speaking of their entire stance, their positions, values, changing so that Democrats absorbed the Republican mission statement and vice versa. They literally completely switched platforms over a few years. Politics is a weird bird.
