The REASON Trump wanted this was to intimidate and punish whomever was the whistleblower. The level of hubris is off the charts.

@MatthewBaran — Agree, but I think you are missing my point. Did Trump take it or did someone else pack it up? Did Trump in fact KNOW he was in possession of those specific documents? There are nuances of this situation that will keep lawyers employed for years. As Trump said in an interview he had gone through those boxes and found nothing they were asking for… that’s either an admission of guilt, or an admission of stupidity from a liar. As a former President they are going to give him ‘some’ leeway, and require a strong burden of proof. I hope he is found guilty, and the trial made very public. But I’m no legal expert, I’ll leave that to y’all. 👍🏽😎

Trump was the President. I could see a little leeway, but that Trump tried to lie, hide and keep these documents is what concerns me. The mere fact that "the janitor had the keys, and let the FBI into the rooms," should send a collective shiver up every American's spine. And I could see this not being criminal, if all documents were returned and it was just a case of hubris. But if there are any missing documents, anything that indicates a crime, LOCK HIM UP!!!!

@HankBukowski — The FBI had an informant tell them there were documents in boxes marked top secret at Mar a largo. When that was revealed THAT’s why Trump asked for a copy of the affidavit. Trumps consistent, witness tampering, obstruction of Justice, it’s all he knows.

@MatthewBaran — No, that’s why Trump wanted the affidavit. Not sure I’d call that “stole” but I wouldn’t doubt it. I’m guessing he just had people pack up his stuff in a rush, and they packed up stuff not knowing or caring. The issue here is that the people that are charged with tracking down missing classified documents tried to get him to return them, and he refused, lied, had his lawyer say “We have none of the documents on your list.” Many presidents and others like Hillary did similar things, but when the records people contacted them, they returned them.

The whistleblower told the FBI exactly where and how to find the documents, and even knew that the maintenance man had the key, so they didn’t have to break down any doors or locks. There were multiple checks and verification steps, due diligence was done beforehand but Trump and his team refused to cooperate. Not to mention if they made it up, how were those documents found? 🤣 Thanks for the laugh.
