@Bob Morley — Diction-Smiction. I have relatives in Oklahoma, and friends in Louisiana that I literally have to take pause after every sentence they say to figure out what it was they said. And sometimes I’m still lost, just recently I said I’m sorry, what about grandmas firehouse in the hills? They’re like No son, Gmaw gotta far uppen narr her haus an da hails. I pause... OHH! Your grandma has a fire in the hills near her house! Oh no, is she going to have to evacuate? They pause, and say what’s the out haus gotta do wit da far? Yer weird.

@Rollo Larson — I get what you mean. Have you served in the military? You drill, and drill, and drill, you have surprise drills, and you have alerts you don’t know are drills until it’s over and they say “This was a drill, the exercise is now over.” When you hear an alert followed by “THIS IS NOT A DRILL” you take everything much more seriously. Perhaps she was former military, perhaps she had just heard it in a movie and wanted to impress on the citizens that it was serious. Either way it ‘may’ not mean she is dumb.
