  1. When I was young we took a road trip to Iowa, one of the stops at a relatives house they had rescued a squirrel 🐿 that had been hit by a car. It was sweet, wonderful, playful and obedient, say go to your cage and she would. We were so amazed. On the day we were leaving they released it, it bolted, ran for the road and was run over dead by a pickup truck. We cried, dad laughed and laughed. Sad day.

  2. jude james — But how was a 5 year old boy from Northern California hill country going to survive or get home in/from Iowa? Hello! They didn’t even have milk carton kids back then! Not to mention at age 5 I don’t think I knew running away was an option.
