I used to fly frequently, and used to love Hertz! They had Excellent service! I experienced just this, but shrugged and went to other rental companies in the airport, Enterprise had one, matched Hertz’s price for a nice luxury continental. When I said my company will not pay for that level, they just smiled and said yes, but we are out of the size you had your reservation for, we have matched their price, but we will have to put you in a luxury car if that is okay with you. What floored me was when I picked up the car and drove past the Hertz area, they HAD LUXURY CARS! But CHOSE to not honor my reservation because they were out of the economy cars and wanted that extra amount. I switched to Enterprise and never looked back.

They used to be excellent, something changed. How they rent to anyone blows my mind! 😮

@snowstalker36 — Yup, I can remember so many dozens of times, landing, grabbing my stuff, walking to the hertz area, seeing my name on the car, striving out with a simple ID and contract check, and I’m on my way to the meeting or whatever. No lines, no fuss, perfect! Turning it in was simple too! How they messed up a winning system boggles Muh brain! 🤯
