Anyone who has studied the constitution KNOWS that protecting the President from prosecution while in office prevents their opposition from filing legal claims that would effectually keep the presidents hands tied as his time would be consumed in court. That privilege ends when they leave office and can be prosecuted for anything they did while in office. Trumps lawyers, every schoolchild knows the why and how of this law.
