Supersonic means faster than sound... so supersonic underwater would be a world of difference compared to in the air as sound travels slower in water. Besides people, think about this... the sonic boom underwater would be slow and catastrophic. LOL! Not to mention that the science of speed, be it planes, automobiles and especially submarines. Air offers resistance, water offers a whole lot more resistance. Think about this... your 180 HP car has a top speed of say 120 mph on land, for that car to go faster, it will need roughly 20% more horsepower for each 10 miles per hour faster. Why? WIND RESISTANCE. Water is thicker than air, so... and Iām guessing here... the energy required to go supersonic underwater would be off the charts, the engine size would be prohibitively big. Think of it this way... the land speed record was set on the salt flats with a forty some odd foot rocket engine car... in atmosphere. So a car that will do 100 mph is eight feet long, to go supersonic it takes exponentially more horsepower for every few extra miles per hour. Add 784 times increased resistance with water, and you would need a submarines engine to deliver enormous power and it would have to be shaped like a sewing needle. Assuming you could do the out of this world math, and could engineer an underwater submarine with enough power and fuel, and a hull strong enough to take that mind blowing pressure... your payload, I.e. the PURPOSE of building it... would be rendered moot. I call BS on this video.
