In any group environment personality conflicts arise, and they try to mitigate them. In the military it’s the same, only lives depend on it. You are as clueless as it gets. In my unit if someone wants to be called whatever, we try and call him or her by whatever, but the job, the mission, respect comes first. No one cares if I work with a freak, we care if that person can do a job. If my calling her sir helps, I say YES SIR!
