  1.  Cliff Yablonski  -- EVERYTHING was already known! There were newspaper articles, cellular industry articles, all carriers were involved (This mentions Verizon but I work for AT&T), we all knew. It wasn't even a secret. We had no clue it was even a secret. All circuits were routed through their equipment, and it was archived (buffered) for transfer to the DHS servers. The only harm was you, John Q. Public found out. And if it was news to you, it's just because you didn't read newspapers or watch the news. It was a SERIOUSLY BIG PROJECT. While yes... there 'may' have been top secret information stolen, but this... that the Department of Homeland Security was recording all calls, all SMS messages, and ss7 call data (GPS data, cell site, call setup info, etc.) was all known for years before Snowden surfaced.

  2. What I don't get is why people think Snowden released info regarding the government tracking and recording calls and texts on it's cellular network. After 911, I worked for a cell phone company, in the switch, and we had a major project. ALL trunks, SMS data, call data, SS7 (call setup data) was rerouted through government equipment. It was written up in trade magazines, newspapers, everyone knew. People involved in the project weren't even told it was a secret, everyone knew. But then when Snowden released documents... holy cow everyone was shocked! Color me confused.
