Let’s be clear; Presidential immunity is to keep a President from being rendered ineffective by nuisance lawsuits during his term, so they can be more effective at their jobs. It does not apply to after they leave office, otherwise Presidents like Gerald Ford wouldn’t need to issue ex-President Nixon a pardon. 😊

@maqywhaq — I’m not a lawyer, and just remember my college government courses. I remember that a “sitting president cannot be charged with a crime,” but they can be charged with a crime after leaving office they committed as President.” Am I wrong?

@penguinnh 👍🏼 Exactly!

@leavingtheyardwithzachandt8404 — That’s never been tested as it’s never been tried. Presidents like Nixon, who were facing charges after they left office were pardoned by their successors. Personally, I don’t care if Trump is pardoned, I just hope it’s AFTER he is found guilty. People need to SEE his guilt beyond a shadow of a doubt. 🤓

@kittycat-f2j — No, a pardon can prevent a pending prosecution. It’s wrong as hell, but what’s the point of prosecuting someone who has a get out of jail free card?

@penguinnh — Having a President die in Prison is not a good look for America. But I would LOVE to see Trump Tried, found guilty in the most publicly damning way possible… then pardoned. And yes… if I were president, I’d write the pardon, put it in my desk, and pull it out AFTER Trump had served a month or so time. 🤣

@ElizabethEwins-mj9zu I can understand that! 😊

@mizzury54 — Nixon did comment that “if a president commits a crime, it isn’t a crime,” or something like that. 😊

@ElizabethEwins-mj9zu — The others were suicides, several officers were devastated by their treatment, the racial slurs, personal attacks, the crowd was angry as hell, and treated the officers like ‘they’ were the enemy. Imagine you have served your country, served the public your entire life and suddenly that was nothing.
