A year ago the Republican Party circulated a poll they authorized asking “Would you support President Trump issuing an executive order to make false news illegal?” I think I remember a 60% something approval rate on this item but I’ve slept since then. THIS would could mean the end of free press in the United States as we know it. Please help refresh my memory, what did Hitler do to control the news once he was elected Chancellor? This should send a chill down everyone’s spine. Keep in mind Twitter didn’t “censor” a thing, the messages are still up that the president sent. What Twitter did was place an automatic flag on Trumps message when he mentioned “Massive mail in voter fraud” that placed a link to the true statistics which are roughly .0007% of mail in votes have been found to be unverifiable. (This means the voter may be bogus/manufactured, moved or deceased.) Trump is lying AGAIN! He was not censored, he was fact checked, and nothing in his original message was altered or deleted. In the words of my father, “if you don’t want to be called a liar, DON’T LIE.”

Let's be clear, the world is warming, you can see proof in the last 70 years of satellite photos that clearly show snow packs and ice in glaciers receding year after year. THAT is a FACT. What Trump was saying was that the CAUSE of global warming was a hoax. And while I disagree with his message, he has a point. CO2 levels, and temperatures of the earth have varied throughout history. There are valid concerns if global warming is natural or man-made. However, the answer is irrelevant! Why? Because we need to either adapt or become extinct. It really is that serious. We either do what we can, plan on ways to adapt to the rising temperatures or... become extinct. I for one would like to leave my children something other than an uncertain future. The people for the most part are wonderful! And every single trip I take I am humbled when I return, America isn’t perfect, we know this. But... this has nothing to do with China’s aggression against Hong Kong. Absolutely nothing. You say I’m brainwashed, but I disagree, I’m concerned for the people there! China treats its citizens in many ways like property, meaning without respect. I get that phenomenal growth happens at a cost, but people matter! The income disparity is shocking, and yes I get the hypocrisy in that statement, we get our components manufactured there because of the low wages, yet I take issue with the common persons low wages. The worlds not perfect, no nation is perfect, all we can hope for is to be better each day, to try and strive towards a greater good. China is endangering EVERYTHING they have achieved because the most petty and stupid things! Treaty was active through 2046, HONOR IT. Don’t like what Journalists say, don’t imprison them, LISTEN TO THEM! Argue with them, understand that like in every aspect of civilization the cockroach theory applies. That’s the see one, ten thousand exist statistic. Have a dozen customer complaints, assume you have an issue affecting 120k people. Have a dozen journalists saying the CCP is meddling in Japan and it isn’t right? LOOK INTO IT! ASK WHY! I’m saying China’s strong armed tactics made the situation ten times worse. Follow that logic out... escalating efforts on both sides accomplishes what exactly? Civil war? UN intervention? Companies the world over redirecting their sources to anywhere but China? Hello? How is this good for anyone? The government goofed, big time! The CCP erred in its actions and response. Hong Kong citizens are CHINESE CITIZENS! Treat them like it! Seriously, I don’t know who you are, or why you’re spinning all of this propaganda to make China look good and the Hong Kong people out to be bad... NO ONE IS BELIEVING IT. China has opened up a can of worms, incorporated many western economical changes, created jobs like crazy, changed the surface of the nation like night and day over decades and it is still growing like crazy. Why is China, a world superpower so threatened by Hong Kong? Why can’t China be mature enough to say “We will honor the treaty, and work towards a peaceful reintegration of Hong Kong in 25 years, and we will promise to keep the citizens of Hong Kong, Chinese citizens needs and freedoms they have become accustomed to as we transition.” Riots stop, protests stop, release the jailed journalists, and yes... keep the people who damaged city or government property in jail for a FAIR amount of time. What China doesn’t seem to comprehend is that people matter, and China has some wonderful people! The CCP rules at the people’s consent, not their own. Want to keep China strong and growing? Recognize the rights of Hong Kong’s people, and honor them as they have changed living in a pseudo democratic environment. That change isn’t bad or good, it’s just change. The only constant is change, can China change and adapt to the changing factors in their nation? At this point I doubt it. All we see is an angry China exercising its muscle and trying to dominate their own people. The same dominance China is asserting over Japan, and other areas. Why? To what end? All you’re doing is showing the world China is seriously flawed, trouble is brewing, and every nation in the world knows they need to make plans about to WHAT to do if relations with China go south. Because an unstable China destabilizes the world. If you think the worlds nations, such as the USA can’t find alternatives to Chinese products, you might want to rethink your position. It won’t be easy but the balls already started rolling, we are considering our options, other nations are placing bids, and we are inking contracts one at a time. It’s nothing “against China” as you no doubt assume, its business. We can’t be held hostage by an unstable CCP that just happens to control a large percentage of our product lines, we are looking BECAUSE of China’s actions in Hong Kong, because of what we see as an unstable Chinese business environment, because our two nations (thanks to Trump) seem to be at odds. And China... holy cow. They are orchestrating the entire concert of events daring the world to challenge them. Are you sure you wish to go there? Over Hong Kong? To risk your progress inertia? What happens when what are now cities of skyscrapers become angry hungry unemployed workers? It’s like the Chinese leaders are operating with blinders on, ignoring the future implications of their actions?

  21. Sisko — Excuse me? Executive orders are presidential orders, they are laws because they bypass congress and senate and immediately become ORDERS. There’s a website I believe that tracks public (not ranked secret) executive orders, do a search. And secret orders remain classified for 50 years or longer if renewed. Obama set records, Trump rallied against them before he became president, and from what I understand, Trump has exceeded Obama’s number of EO’s.

After WW2 Britain 🇬🇧 signed a treaty with China that allowed Hong Kong 99 years of autonomous operation, its citizens and government were democratic and free. China did not honor the treaty which is not set to expire until 2046 I believe. Those FACTS are in every history book in the world. The protests started because journalists and citizens from Hong Kong were being disappeared meaning captured and transferred to Chinese prisons. That is FACT. You need to crack open a book or web page before you start spouting lies and misinformation that is so clearly false that it is rude to even suggest to others that THEY not YOU are wrong. Those 24 military officers that were replaced had one thing in common, they all objected in writing to trumps request to use American troops on American soil against American citizens during the BLM riots crisis and it’s crux. So now we have military officers in charge who support Trump unconditionally. This was all planned.

They have the job of running the day to day operations, to hire and fire department heads, etc., and often make more than the mayor because of the position demands and requirements. How much of what you blame Pete for was the responsibility of the City Manager? Also keep in mind that faux pas of when Pete fired the black police chief. The lawsuit was won on the grounds that Pete didn't have the authority to fire him, which he didn't, that was the city managers responsibility or job. The police chief was fired for insubordination and won his lawsuit for wrongful dismissal because it wasn't the Mayor's job to fire him.
