@paulmccarthy5072 — I’m sure it is, maybe, in some situations, if you have proof and witnesses. But once you take that step they (city/state police and prosecutors) are going to throw the book at you for capital life-ending-event. I had a 87 year old neighbor that “resisted arrest” when they came to his door. The court and legal expenses started at $25k, increased to $50k, then an additional $75k before he went to trial nearly bankrupted the man. All because he didn’t see them enter his house (4 strokes, legally blind), and was surprised when they said “Don’t turn away from me!” (He essentially freaked out when they grabbed him and turned him around.) WW2 vet, and when he passed away at 91 the case was still haunting him, unresolved. My point is only that while we “may have the right,” but the burden of proof is ALL on us, it’s expensive as hell, and in his case, the city had unlimited funds, and he paid dearly. You might ‘think’ you are right in defending yourself, but can you PROVE it in court? I like your thinking, but I would never ever deliberately put myself in that position.
