  5. FYI Boston Dynamics is now owned by Hyundai.. a south korean company... yes a company majorly funded by US defense funds is now foreign owned.

  6. The lash and slop in those gear drives... is BAD. It appears to be a significant step down in capability from HD Atlas.

  7. The guy that started boston dynamics doesn't have as much weight after it was bought... this robot has a lot of problems to work out before it catches back up to the hydraulic version. It apears to have a lot of gear lash especially noticeable when it walking.... while HD Atlas is nearly silent when walking this thing sounds like 3CPO... which is a bad thing.

  8. what is more likely is that the conveyor fails in some way and it loads 200 boxes right onto the floor... because of a jam with no photoeye etc...

  12. We had robot commercials in the 70s-80s also and there was not practical application to thier capabilities then we'll see about now but just because it can walk doesn't make it acutally useful outside of a few niche situations. Seems like it could make a good platform for bomb disposal.
