The viewer count was over 3x higher than the previous world record. 3.44 million for an unpaid service.... not surprising that it crashed under the very best of circumstances. Doing a bit more reading the youtube record is 8million and several paid services have had higher view counts up to around 35million for things like ICC Cricket. Assuming a fairly low stream quality of 1mbit, that would still result in 35Tb/s of throughput for 35million viewers. Presumably this could have hit a record too if the stream had not crashed. Realistically a paid service is probably pushing more like 10mbit at least so perhaps as much as 0.35Pb/s.
