The radio music industry in the US is all but dead... I'm not sure I've heard anything new on the radio I wanted to listen to in the past 10 years. I lived in Brazil during the 2000s and would stay up late into the night hunting radio stations with music I liked, this helped my ear for the Portugese language as well since I was learning that at the time. These days I hardly listen to anything from the US, few people getting recognition on the airwaves have passion for music in the US the industry is dead. Even alot of the music I hear in TV and Film are sourcing musicials from other countries like Aurora Aksnes, Japan also has a vibrant music scene that has embraced technology but not detrimentally like pop in the US.... they have used it to make new sounds, and crazy things that nobody would be able to do, and then that has birthed people acutally singing the things people could only imagine in the past, listen to a few songs from Ado and your mind will be blown.
