  1. You know what is wasteful... leaving better engines on the drawing board. The achates power engines would be saving us millions of barrels of oil a year but they still have not been put into production or even beyond limited tested in real trucks (where they saw double digit improvements in performance with 2/3 less emission equipment). Its also worth pointing out the engines would cost LESS to manufacture, because they are simpler, and dont' even have a valve train one of the most common sources of problems in modern engines. They are a nearly 80 year proven engine design (71 series detroit ) turned on its head and imrproved beyond modern emissions and efficiency standards.
