While I don't think the risk of messaging is high, I also think that the gain of getting a reply is not high, cus getting a reply after decades gets us more of a withdrawal symptom than the hoped communication. That is, if the aliens not give us a possibility to communicate beyond light speed or are already present with a disguised spaceship nearby.
