@kentslocum Well said. And this is so important.

45 minutes after the fire warning they were still on their way back to Dubai airport. It was 180 miles, if you would fly directly, it takes 20 minutes to the runway. Of cause you first need to turn and loose some other minute in doing the checklists and discussions, but if you have a fire you would prioritise the flight to the airport as quick as possible while doing the checklists. ATC gives you a rather direct route anyways, so after about 24 minutes they could be on the runway. So, why 45 minutes after the warning with fairly good control of the airplane and visibility until then, they were still on their way, they were not even close? @Mentour Pilot, maybe you can clarify too?

@Iceeeen No its not, even 15 years ago I bought Cat 7 installation cable for 1 € per meter, thats not mindboggling.

This is true. But here is a major difference: Having two problems that add up to each other (20 min processing time and the need to recalculate) are an unacceptable status. You need to evaluate which is feasible, fix the problem or install a new system and then do it.

Well, I think studies should tell if its save or not, not we arguing in our chairs without even having a plane suitable for one pilot, shall we?

I have never understood why the A380 should be that bad. The reasons doesn't seem right: Point to point makes a reduction of needed plane size of about 2.5 - yes. But the 747 in the 1970s were filled when passenger volumes were 1/7th of today, so when the 747 was great in the 70s, today we should see planes with 7/2,5 the size of a 747, so also much larger as the A380. Then the A380 is not that efficient. Well at least for airlines that already have A380s, its cheaper to use a bit less efficient airplane than scrap them and buy other planes. Then Chinas air travel is upcoming with large cities and large distances even domestically.

Don't like politics much, so I don't like this kind of videos.

@sundar999 You didn't watched the video, right?

What I am wondering, we are discussing now what to do with the middle marked getting lost for Boeing. So why did Boeing not thought about that 20 years ago?

@Anon54387 Did you watched the video? Did you read anything about the crashes? I doubt. Petter explained all that in the video.

So, this is in favour of one pilot planes, cus no second pilot could be closed out, the plane handles to prevent such things happening.
