@gypsysoul1719 That's what I thought even before it all happened, at one minute before ditching they should have pushed engine 1, there's nothing to loose, just a push of the lever, if you are near death, you try EVERYTHING, really EVERYTHING - but they, nah ... didn't even tried that simple engine 1 lever. And in addition, if you are near ditching, you push your luck by flooring engine 2, even if it is faulty, of cause you try it, you have nothing to loose - but again, nah...

@MatthijsvanDuin So its more appropriate to lay your hands in your lap?? What is wrong with people. If you face death you try _everything_, even with smallest possibilities.

@MatthijsvanDuin I've understood your comment a bit wrong, sorry about that, should not have wrote my last comment. Your right but I still think otherwise, a pilot should be able to think straight in stressed situations. A pilot should know at least the things that I know about flying being no pilot, not even in videogames. They didn't followed procedures, of cause this is the first thing they should have stick to. But as they don't and as their likelihood to survive was way below 50 % (ditching at night imminent), I meant they should have carefully advanced the broken engine 2 until 100 %, cus doing so could only break it more - or help them make it to the airport. Then carefully advance (the good) engine 1 to feel if it can at least do a bit of thrust.

@vipvip-tf9rw It takes 10 seconds from one of them to carefully advance both engines.
