When you are staying in front of your death, you have no fucking choice but don't give up. You just have no choice! So I don't like this saying. This also applies to many other situations.

@derfvcderfvc7317 I am not sure, Doha (Bahrain) would take 11 minutes in direct flight, Dubai 20 minutes. But 45 minutes after the fire warning they were not even close to any airport, so THIS is the mistake.

I really wonder the following: 45 minutes after the fire warning, they were still on their way back to Dubai airport and they had fairly good control of the airplane and visibility until then. It was 180 miles, if you fly directly, it would take you 20 minutes to the runway. Of cause you first need to turn and loose some other minute in doing the checklists and discussions, but if you have a fire you would prioritise the flight to the airport as quickly as possible while doing the checklists, so I think after about 24 minutes they could be on the runway. So, why 45 minutes after the warning, they were still on their way, they were not even close? @Mentour Pilot, maybe you can clarify too?
