Comments by "Hakan Karaağaç" (@TheReaper569) on "Midway: Why the US won? Determination? Superior Ships? Damage Control?" video.
This comment is more informative and more non biased than the video. Thanks.

This is pointless, each of you had different understanding for the word determination and you try to argue yours is the correct one. Sentimental factors like american determination can safely be ignored when trying to bring an objective analyses in any miltiary scenario. Something the narrator failed big time. Something you guys repeated.

I am not sure if i should admire the level of knowledge here and take it or be aware the amount of anti japanese content or at least the way he is saying as a biased semi propoganda

"Well, they did start a war they couldn't win. " this is really a statement that makes me angry. No one who studied history for at least some time would say such a thing. 1: They did not know at the time they couldnt win. 2: Japan won agiants much stronger foes back before, and never lost. hence why they were confident until then. Americans would not take this lesson and repeat this mistake in korea and vietnam. 3-There was going to be a war between japan and US, there is no question about it. The question was when, where and by whom. Even without pearl harbor or without japanese iincursion to french indo china, US was preparing for war.

"The Emperor underestimated American production" was the emperor directly involved in the decicion to attack? At that year emperors role was traditional and ceremonial. Prime minister handled the parlement and the goverment. "The west knew that any modern war was going to be a war of attrition" Well so did the IJN. Especily yamamato tried to warn the goverment that the army's actions would cause a 2- front war and a war of atrittion. Prime minister was making decicions based on politics of the time but he would not listen to yamamato on military matters. "The Japanese military wanted to fight set piece battles for honor and glory." -they were much more tradiditonal in their understandding but not as mucj as this sentence that makes them look like old stuffed up idiots. "Japan was already involved in China, tying up a large portion of their military. Then they attacked not just the US, but Britain as well. The US Navy was not large in 1940," I agree army thought china would fall easily. They did not think it would goble up hald the army efforts. But you are wrong on the navy. US navy was i believe the second largest or the third on the planet. "Japan expected the US to just yield, based on no evidence that that outcome would be likely." Poliiticans who forced the navy into war did. Despite navy's efforts to tell them they are wrong.

i would say underrated.

that not what he said. he said i will fight the us and the british navy for 6 to 12 months. after that, i have no hope of sucsess.

in practice yes. yamamoto was given a task that can be percieved as outright impossibe. his plan of strike us fleet in hawaii then turn pacific into a fortress was i think only plan that can be rationaly concieved of.

They went in with the intent to destroy the last remaining American carriers, Did the US lose carriers to the IJN before midway?

i would ask for a long video or if you know a long reply solely dedicated on explaining and events of conflict between the imperial army and the navy.
