The U.K. didn’t want the Falklands and were warned that withdrawing ships would leave them vulnerable.War suited both political leaders.Whatever the history,one has to question the right of the U.K.,in the 21st century “to own” Hong Kong, Gibraltar, Cyprus,Malta,Jersey, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands……most of which are tax havens for the rich and powerful,subsidised by the poor.We need to grow up…..the days of sailing round the world…..sticking flags in the ground……saying….this is mine…..this is mine and this is mine……..are long gone.
